Masterful Arm Rejuvenation
Dr. Matt Chhatre performs arm lift surgery at his clinic serving the greater Kansas City area.
Fluctuations in weight, aging, and even genetics can cause your upper arms to develop a drooping, sagging appearance. While exercise may strengthen and improve the underlying muscle tone of the upper arm, it cannot correct excess skin that has lost its elasticity. If the underside of your upper arms are sagging or appear loose due to excess skin and fat, an arm lift procedure can restore tone and definition. To learn more about how an arm lift procedure can benefit you, please contact our clinic serving Kansas City, Overland Park and Lee’s Summit.
The Arm Lift Procedure
An arm lift begins with your surgeon administering an anesthetic to ensure your comfort during the procedure. Next, the surgeon makes an incision along the length of the inside or back of the arm, between the armpit and elbow. If needed, liposuction will remove excess fat from the area. Next, underlying supportive tissue is tightened and reshaped with internal stitches, taking care to make skin smooth over the new contour of your arm. The incision is closed with stitches that will be removed after about two weeks. Good candidates for an arm lift are those who have:
- Noticeable upper arm skin laxity
- Relatively stable weight and who are not significantly overweight
- Good health and no medical conditions that can impair healing or increase risk of surgery
- A positive outlook and realistic expectations
Risks Of Arm Lift Surgery
Though arm lift surgery is a safe procedure with an ample success rate, there are risks one must consider. Possible complications include unfavorable scarring, infection, persistent pain and blood clots.
