A mini face lift can help patients achieve a more youthful appearance and increased confidence, and successful mini facelift recovery can be achieved when you follow your post-operative care instructions precisely. Dr. Chhatre strives to provide the highest quality and state-of-the-art care for all patients at Summit Plastic Surgery and Med Spa. You can be assured that he will provide personal support before, during, and after your procedure.
After Your Procedure
Dr. Chhatre personally performs every surgery in the comfort and privacy of his own facility. Your mini facelift procedure will take place in his state-of-the-art ambulatory surgical center, which allows you to return home the same day. After your mini face lift, you will be taken to recovery. You will be carefully monitored by our caring staff for an hour or more, or until Dr. Chhatre is confident that you may leave the facility safely. You may be drowsy from the anesthesia, so you should arrange transportation from a friend or family member. You will be sent home with a specialized elastic bandage that will aid in healing as well as any prescribed medications you may need to relieve discomfort or prevent infection. The following day at your post-operative appointment, Dr. Chhatre will change your bandages, clean the surgical area, and check your incisions to ensure that your recovery is progressing well. You will be provided with complete instructions on how to change your dressings and use your compression bandage at home. At this time, Dr. Chhatre will answer any questions you have about achieving a short and successful recovery.
Your Recovery At Home
There are a number of steps you can take at home to help ensure a successful recovery. These include:
- Resting as much as possible in the first week following surgery.
- Keeping your head elevated and still to avoid putting pressure on your incisions.
- Applying cold compresses to your face to ease discomfort and reduce swelling.
- Avoiding any activity that raises your heart rate.
- Cleaning any drainage tubes once per day.
- Bathing carefully, taking care to keep your incisions and dressings dry.
You may want to consider having a loved one stay with you for the first two days after surgery to help with chores like cooking and cleaning. If you notice excess fluid in the drainage tubes, you should contact our office immediately, as this may be a sign of infection. You can expect most discomfort to subside after approximately two days. Most patients can have their stitches removed after five days.

Resuming Normal Activities
Some patients will be able to return to work as soon as their sutures have been removed. Most patients are able to resume working within one to two weeks. Once the swelling decreases, you should begin to see a more youthful appearance emerge. Healing will continue for several months. Rigorous exercise should be avoided until Dr. Chhatre has cleared you to resume them. While you recover, you should avoid using any tobacco products, as smoking slows healing. The same holds true regarding the consumption of alcohol. Saunas and steam rooms should also be avoided. Within three months to a year, most patients are fully able to enjoy a refreshed and younger-looking appearance.
