What Can A Thigh Lift Do For Me?
A thigh lift procedure is designed to tighten loose skin in the thigh area, as well as to remove fatty deposits and reduce sagging. The thigh lift is particularly effective for people who have lost a great deal of weight, leaving excess, often loose and sagging skin behind. Skin that has been stretched due to rapid weight gain often lacks elasticity and is unable to “bounce back” after dramatic weight loss. This can be frustrating if you’ve dedicated months or even years of hard work to losing weight, but can’t completely enjoy the results. Unfortunately, once your skin has lost elasticity, it cannot be regained. A thigh lift procedure can tighten these areas of loose skin and refine the shape of the thigh to give you a dramatic new look.
How Do I Know If A Thigh Lift Is Right For Me?
As with any cosmetic surgery procedure, a thorough consultation with your cosmetic surgeon will help you determine if you are an appropriate candidate for a thigh lift. If you have poor skin tone in the thigh area as a result of aging, rapid weight loss, or pregnancy, and are otherwise in good overall health, you might be a good candidate for a thigh lift. If you have a great deal of excess fatty tissue in your thighs, it might be better to consider liposuction for that area before investigating a thigh lift.
If you are interested in a thigh lift, you can contact Summit Plastic Surgery and Med Spa to set up a initial consultation with Dr. Chhatre. During this consultation, you can get answers to all your questions and concerns, and the surgeon can tell you exactly what you can realistically expect to gain from a thigh lift procedure.
What Options Are Available When Choosing A Thigh Lift?
Different types of thigh lifts are designed to refine and contour specific areas of the thigh.
Outer Thigh Lift
This procedure tightens the skin on the front, side, and back of the thigh. An incision is made at the top of the thigh. Skin is removed, and the remaining skin is drawn up and reattached to firm and tighten the profile of the upper leg.
Inner Thigh Lift
A medial thigh lift focuses on the top portion of the inner thigh. The incision is made on the interior groin area, from the front of the groin back toward the crease of the buttock. Skin and fat are then removed, and the shape of the inner thigh is refined by lifting and reattaching the skin.
Thigh lifts can also be performed in conjunction with other body contouring procedures, such as a buttock lift, for even more dramatic results.
How Long Is The Recovery Time After A Thigh Lift?
While recovery time will vary based on what procedure you have chosen, your general overall health, and other individual factors, recovery takes at least one to two weeks. You will need to greatly restrict movement immediately after surgery, particularly heavy physical activities, to facilitate healing of your incisions. Dr. Chhatre will let you know how long you should take off work to insure you have enough rest-often seven to ten days at home is recommended.
Since a thigh lift is a major surgical procedure, you should be sure to follow your doctor’s recommendations for rest and recovery in order to receive the best results from your thigh lift.
