Luscious lips have become one of the most popular non surgical aesthetic requests on the market today. While traditional injectable fillers have been around for years, there are now newly manufactured and more innovative fillers available. Vobella XC by Juvederm is the newest generation of Hyaluronic Acid(HA) lip filler. It is designed for injections into the lips for augmentation and the correction of perioral lines. This  crystal-clear gel is designed to add subtle volume to give a natural look and feel. Our aesthetic nurse injector, Rachel, has had extensive training and experience in using Vobella. Contact our office serving Kansas City and surrounding areas today, to schedule your consultation or injection.

Am I a Candidate for Vobella?

If you’re wanting to add volume to naturally thin lips or restore lost volume from age or smooth vertical lines around your lips, Vobella would be a perfect option for you. A naturally occurring substance in the skin, Hyaluronic Acid is responsible for keeping the skin plump and hydrated. As we age we lose HA and our production drastically slows down. Because of this, products like Vobella, will help restore lost volume bringing back your youthful look. Results can be subtle to more dramatic depending on the look that you’re wanting to achieve. Correcting asymmetrical lips and adding volume is achieved in as little as 15 minutes.

What Should I Expect During My Injection?

At the time of your first injection, you’ll meet with Rachel for a full assessment and evaluation. At this time, she will talk with you about your desired look and fullness, talk with you about which filler, such as Vobella, will be best for you and how many syringes are needed. Typically one syringe gives  the exact look you’re hoping for, but there are some instances that a half syringe may be needed. Prior to the injection, Rachel will apply a small amount of a compounded topical anesthetic to assist in the comfort of the procedure. Along with the topical anesthetic, Vobella gel is mixed with lidocaine which will numb the tissue inside for a comfortable treatment.

What Side Effects Can I Expect?

HA injection side effects are minor and short lived. You can occasionally see temporary reactions such as: tenderness, swelling, firmness, lumps & bumps, bruising, and redness. Side effects typically subside on their own within a few days. Rachel will advise you of the best options for reducing and limiting side effects. Prior to any filler procedures, we do recommend stopping all blood thinners. One week prior to your injection, it is recommended to discontinue Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Vitamin E and Fish Oil.

Combination Options

Adding a little Botox to your upper lip will assist in lifting your lip to give a fuller look. The lip flip procedure has become very popular combination treatment with HA lip injections. Maintenance of your filler can be achieved by incorporating topical skin care products that contain Hyaluronic Acid. We love the Skin Ceuticals HA Intensifier.  Applying this serum over the face and lips assists in overall moisture content as well as the longevity of filler.
